Olympic Flame Visits Toronto For Second Time

After a massive party celebrating the Olympic torch’s arrival in Toronto the flame burned bright again on downtown streets Friday morning.

The relay started off on the steps of Queen’s Park and made its way through Toronto streets, eventually heading up to Aurora, where it will then work its way through Newmarket, Keswick, Bradford, Bolton, Kleinburg, Vaughan and finally to Brampton where the arrival of the Olympic flame will kick off festivities at city hall at 6pm.

The Toronto leg of Friday’s Olympic torch relay made its way south on University to Front Street, then headed towards the Rogers Centre. It then looped back toward Union Station.

The run then moved through the Distillery District, north on Parliament around 7am and then up to Danforth Avenue, passing Cosburn and Pape after 7:30am. It toured through East York before eventually heading up the DVP and out of the city.

The torch relay was disrupted late Thursday afternoon around University and College Street by a native protest, forcing the flame to take a detour.

The Olympic flame makes another appearance in Toronto again on Saturday, around 10:30am.
