Brandon Morrow (2-2) struck out nine and allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings before a crowd of 12,722 at the Rogers Centre as the Blue Jays won their second in a row after ending a five-game losing streak on Thursday. The Athletics also finished April 12-12.
Trevor Cahill (0-1), who was called up from Triple-A for the start, took the loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) on seven hits – including three home runs – over five innings.
After Kevin Kouzmanoff singled to score Cliff Pennington in the first inning, Gonzalez hit a three-run home run in the second for a 3-1 Toronto lead. The shortstop also led off the sixth with his seventh homer of the season.

Wells hit his eighth homer of the season after Adam Lind singled in the fifth to put the Blue Jays ahead 7-2. The two RBIs gave Wells 741 for his career, passing George Bell to move into second on the Blue Jays’ all-time list. Carlos Delgado leads with 1,058.
Aaron Hill doubled in two runs in the sixth against Chad Gaudin after Gonzalez’s leadoff homer chased Cahill.
