Man Charged For Driving Without A Licence For 30 Years

A southern Ontario man has a court date next month after police allege a motorist they pulled over had not been licensed to drive for 30 years.

Provincial police say the driver was stopped for a possible traffic infraction in Penetanguishene, about 50 kilometres north of Barrie, on May 22.

Police say the man was unable to produce a driver’s licence.

The Ministry of Transportation database revealed the driver has been unlicensed since 1980.

Police said today that Bruce Newton, 73, has been charged with driving without a licence.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Penetanguishene on Aug. 19.
