Development blocked on Glen Abbey golf course until 2018

By News Staff

The world famous Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville will remain intact at least until the end of January 2018.

Town council has extended an interim control bylaw that temporarily restricts the use of the property and blocks any development.

It will allow time to complete planning studies of the impact of a redevelopment plan that would replace the greens and fairways with more than 3,000 homes, and 160,000 square feet of office and retail space.

The owner of the course, ClubLink, has appealed and will take its case to the Ontario Municipal Board on Jan. 30, 2017.
