Vaughan man charged with murder of teen girlfriend

By News staff

A man who called police back in May to report that he found his teenage girlfriend unconscious has now been charged with her murder.

In a release, York regional police said they were called to a residence on North Park Road in Vaughan on May 6, just after 8 a.m. after a man said he found his girlfriend not breathing.

The 19-year-old was later pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy determined that the cause of death was homicide.

Following a months-long investigation, York police charged the boyfriend last week.

Raphael Banon, 20, of Vaughan is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
