Toyota Canada said it will install a steel reinforcement bar to fix the sticky pedal problem that has resulted in a massive recall.
The company said owners of the recalled vehicles will have access to the remedy by the end of this week.
Those eight models include:
-Certain 2009-2010 RAV4
-2009-2010 Corolla
-2009-2010 Matrix
-2005-2010 Avalon
2007-2010 Camry
-2010 Highlander
-2007-2010 Tundra
-2008-2010 Sequoia
Toyota has recalled more than 2.3-million vehicles in the United States and 270,000 in Canada because of the problem.
Production at two Toyota manufacturing facilities in southwestern Ontario will be halted this week because of the recall.
Eight vehicle models made over the past several years have been affected by the recall, which is the biggest in Toyota’s history.
Toyota Canada said it will install reinforcement bars to eliminate excess friction that can cause the accelerator pedal to stick and the vehicle to go too fast.
