York Region Transit riders will face delays, Tuesday, as striking YRT workers use picket lines to slow the buses at the Veolia garage on Keele Street, north of Highway 7.
Workers from First Student, Miller Transit and Viva have set up two picket lines, and are delaying every single bus rolling out of the garage.
Amalgamated Transit Union local president Ray Doyle told 680News if commuters are angry about this labour action, they can do something.
“I would suggest to the public, get on the phone to your councillors, to your mayors, to your MPPs, put the pressure on them. Tell them to get this over with. Agree to go with binding arbitration, and let’s get the transit system back to work,” Doyle said.
He also hinted that there are possibilities that striking workers may set up a picket line at Finch station.
The picketers have dubbed themselves the “Frank Klees Brigade” in reference to the York Region MPP’s complaint that he had not seen much picketing during the strike.
Nearly 600 YRT workers have been on strike since October 24.
