PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Actor Sean Penn, who is currently in earthquake-ravaged Haiti helping with relief efforts, said the country’s biggest challenge is getting hospitals staffed and supplied during the current rainy season and upcoming hurricane season.
Penn told the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the problem requires “immediate attention” and should not be held up by any bureaucratic disagreements.
Penn testified at the hearing, alongside administration officials, who also spoke about some of the successes made in the devastated country.
The January 12 earthquake left 230,000 dead and displaced over 1.2 million.
