Splash Works to open this weekend at Canada’s Wonderland

The summer heat is coming, and Canada’s Wonderland is offering a cure.

The well-known Splash Works waterpark will open on Saturday, May 28 with 17 slides, cliff jumping, and a huge wave pool.

Director of communications, Grace Peacock, told CityNews she’s excited for the upcoming season. “With all this hot weather we’ve been having guests are really looking forward to getting back to the water attractions,” she said.

It hasn’t been easy for Wonderland during the pandemic. “It’s a special year for us because we were closed for a little while and had to open late last year,” said Peacock. “This is a celebration of everything returning for the guests.”

The park has three new food festivals planned for August, but the classic events are also making a comeback. KidZfest, the Woofjocks dog show and summer music performances are all on the docket at Canada’s Wonderland.

“There’s just so much to do at the park, and guests can even hit both of our parks in the same day,” said Peacock.

The whole water park encompasses 20 acres beside Wonderland’s roller coasters giving Splash guests a clear view of the impressive rides throughout the day. “It’s all included in your admission or season pass,” said Peacock, “so just come through the front gate and the water park is located toward the back.”

For the time being, Splash Works water park is only open on weekends while Wonderland’s roller coasters are open daily. However, starting Thursday, June 16 the slides and pools will open their doors to daily visitors until summer’s end. Events planned later in the summer include Brew & BBQ in June and a Canada Day celebration on July 1.

The weather this weekend won’t be exceptional with temperatures topping out around 20 degrees. Regardless of the temps, water park fans are sure to turn out at Splash Works located just north of Vaughan Mills shopping mall.
