The top baby names in Ontario have been revealed, with the leading name for girls reigning supreme for the 12th consecutive year.
Olivia and Noah were announced as the most popular names of 2021. Emma, second for girls, is seeing a rather meteoric rise in popularity. Noah finished first for the third-straight year, followed by Liam, Oliver, Jack and Benjamin, which rounded out the top five.
Charlotte, Emelia and Ava finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Ella was welcomed into the top 10 names of the year for the first time. The United States Social Security Administration, which released its top baby names of the year, had Liam as number one and, like Ontario, Olivia in the top spot.
Baby Center, a media corporation that has analyzed the most popular baby names for 18 years, had a relatively similar top 10. Elijah, a name that didn’t crack Ontario’s list, finished in fourth among the boys, while Isabella and Luna also entered the girls’ top 10.
Kaleed Rasheed, Ontario’s Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery, said it’s important that parents register their child’s birth within 30 days of welcoming their newborn.
“With just a single online session, parents can apply for critical documents like their child’s birth certificate and Social Insurance Number, right from the comfort of their home, allowing them to spend more time with their newborn,” Rasheed said.
