Man charged in fatal Mississauga shooting, victim identified

Peel Regional Police have charged a suspect after a fatal shooting in Mississauga on Friday morning.

Officers were called to Brass Winds Place near Scott’s Brae Park in Meadowvale around 11:00 a.m. Friday for reports of shots fired.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified as 42-year-old Hammad Shaikh.

Police say later Friday they located and arrested Farhan Durrani, 34, of Mississauga.

He’s facing a single count of first-degree murder.

Investigators say the victim and the suspect are known to each other and there are no outstanding suspects.
