Victim of Etobicoke home invasion phoned police in bathroom, leads to arrest

By Lucas Casaletto

Toronto police arrested and charged a man in a home invasion after the victim was able to lock themselves in the bathroom and call the authorities.

On Wednesday, officers responded to the Lakeshore Boulevard West and Twenty Ninth Street area in Etobicoke for reports of a person with a gun.

It’s alleged that the victim was inside their residence when they heard a knock at the door. A man was able to force his way inside the home, produced a handgun, and struck the victim several times while demanding cash.

As the perpetrator began to steal items, the victim was able to get to a bathroom and call the police.

Officers responded to the scene and located the male suspect inside the residence, where he was taken into custody. Police also discovered a replica handgun that the man allegedly used.

Amidulla Baluch, 24, was charged with robbery with a firearm. He appeared in court on Wednesday.
