The winter weather has no plans of relenting in the wake of the GTA’s first big winter storm of the year.
More snow is expected this weekend with some people still digging out from the storm that hit earlier this week. The additional snowfall comes before temperatures plummet and things get much colder next week.
CityNews meteorologist Jill Taylor says an additional 10 centimetres is possible with accumulation beginning late Saturday.
“The snow that we are going to have to shovel arrives late Saturday night,” she says. “I guess the good thing about this is it’s arriving on the weekend and won’t be as impactful as the snow we just had.”
Happy Friday! Flurries at times today #Toronto GTA Light snow after 8pm tonight with trace to a cm or 2. More snow Sat night/Sunday am. About 5cm overnight Sat, another 3-7cm Sunday morning. Colder air follows in the wake of these rounds of snow. Wind chill in -20s next week!

We could see some flurries on Friday but the heavier snow is expected to start overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Five centimetres is possible by the morning with another three to seven centimetres possible on Sunday through the morning hours.
Then things get cold in time for the start of February as temperatures plummet next week.
“Extra, extra layers will be needed for next week as we get into that colder arctic air,” says Taylor. “Tuesday, Wednesday into Thursday we will be dealing with a windchill closer to -20.”
Monday will see a morning low of -10 C and a high near -5 C. On Tuesday, a morning low of near -11 C is expected with a daytime high of -6 C.
