Girl, 14, critically injured after being struck by truck in Rexdale

A 14-year-old girl has suffered life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a truck in Rexdale.

Police say they were called to Queens Plate Drive just north of Rexdale Boulevard and west of Woodbine Centre around 7:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police say the transport truck was heading east on Rexdale approaching a green light at Queens Plate, when the teen got off a bus that stopped in the curb lane east on Rexdale west of the intersection, walked in front of the bus and entered the intersection, and was hit by the truck.

Paramedics say the teen was taken to a trauma centre via emergency run.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene.
