Toronto police have charged one woman and continue searching for a second female suspect after the pair allegedly entered a Scarborough apartment building and lit a fire.
Police said two women attended the apartment building in the Warden Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East area around 3 a.m. on June 18.
It’s alleged that the two women entered an elevator in the lobby, with one woman carrying a gas can. They got off the elevator and set fire to a door of an apartment unit.
Police said the women fled the building in a 2016 black Lincoln MKC with the Ontario plate CYEW284. Two occupants were in the apartment unit at the time, and both were not injured.
The two women were identified by investigators last week.
On Tuesday, police arrested 23-year-old Dustina Perez of Toronto. Perez faces several charges, including the possession of incendiary material for arson, arson with disregard for human life, arson causing damage to property, disguise with intent and mischief endangering life.
