Firefighters rescue man trapped inside vehicle after rollover on DVP

By Patricia D'Cunha

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle rollover on the Don Valley Parkway.

It happened on the northbound DVP ramp to westbound Lawrence Avenue. Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Firefighters worked to free the man who was trapped in his SUV after it flipped over onto the driver’s side.

The man was rushed to a trauma centre but paramedics say his injuries are not life threatening.

Crews had to stabilize the vehicle before attempting to extricate the man.

CityNews traffic reporter Jordan Kerr who was flying over the scene in Chopper 680 said it took firefighters around half an hour to free him.

It is not yet known what caused the crash.

The right lane of the northbound DVP was blocked off at Lawrence, as well as the ramp to westbound Lawrence, but has since reopened.
