One man is facing charges in a sex trafficking investigation in Peel Region after he forced the victim into the sex trade for several years, dating back to 2016.
Peel Regional Police were notified of allegations in February 2023 and identified a man involved in sex trafficking from 2016 to 2018.
Investigators said the accused persuaded the female victim to perform sexual services throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). It’s alleged the man exercised control over aspects of the victim’s life and profited financially from the illegal activity.
The suspect was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant in Mississauga on July 1, 2023. He was identified as 29-year-old Guled Yusuf of Mississauga.
He’s facing several charges, including procuring persons under 18 years, trafficking in persons under the age of 18, receiving benefit resulting from trafficking in persons, exercising control, material benefit from sexual services provided by persons under 18 years, advertising sexual services and householder permitting sexual activity of a person between the ages of 16-18 years.
Yusuf was held on bail and appeared in court on July 1.
