Peel Regional Police investigators are trying to track down a suspect after a stabbing in Mississauga early Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a male victim.

Officers were called around 12:23 p.m. to the area of Agnes Street and Hurontario Street near Dundas Street East after reports that a male had been stabbed.

When police arrived, they found the victim suffering from serious injuries. Emergency crews worked to save his life, but he was later declared dead at the scene.

Police are not identifying the victim at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Later Tuesday, police released an image of a suspect in the stabbing.

He’s described as a Black man with a medium build, short black hair and a black goatee. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a black zip-style jacket, fluorescent green pants, and yellow Timberland-style boots with a black watch on his right wrist.

He was last seen in the Hurontario and Dundas streets area.

As a precaution, schools in the area were placed in hold‑and‑secure, police said. That security measure was lifted just after 1:30 p.m.
