A bail hearing scheduled for an Etobicoke woman charged with the attempted murder of her son has been delayed until Wednesday.
The 32-year-old mother, whose name is being withheld to protect her child, appeared in court Tuesday four days after the 11 year old was attacked.
She was also charged with aggravated assault and failing to provide the necessaries of life.
Dressed in a green jumpsuit the woman mouthed “I love you guys” to a group of people in the courtroom as she was led out of a College Park courtroom. She is currently under a no contact order with several family members.
Around 1 a.m. Friday, officers were called to the 12th floor of a building on Eva Road, near Bloor Street West and Highway 427, by people who had heard terrified screams coming from the apartment.
Police found the boy with severe head injuries, and he was taken to hospital where he remains on a ventilator.
“In regards to the child, he remains in critical but stable condition,” Det. Steve Laramy told CityNews. “Family are with him there.”
Two other children were in the apartment but they are now in the care of the Children’s Aid Society.
