Raptors Lose 10th In A Row, To Bucks

Corey Maggette scored 29 points including the tie-breaking three-pointer with 44.8 seconds to play in overtime as the Milwaukee Bucks sent the Raptors crashing to their 10th loss in a row with a 116-110 victory on Friday.

It is the longest losing streak for the Raptors since they lost 10 in a row March 26-April 12 during the 2005-06 season.

Ersan Ilyasova scored 25 points for Milwaukee (18-26) before fouling out in the fourth quarter, Andrew Bogut scored 24 including the first six points of overtime and Carlos Delfino scored 15 off the bench.

Amir Johnson led Toronto (13-34) with 24 and Andrea Bargnani added 23 and Jose Calderon had 13 with 10 assists .

DeMar DeRozan tied the game with 1:04 to go in overtime with a driving reverse layup, but Maggette hit a three-pointer on 25-foot jumper to put the Bucks into a 113-110 lead with 44.8 seconds to play.

Sonny Weems missed his shot at the other end and Delfino made one of two free throws to put Milwaukee ahead by four.

After the Raptors couldn’t score, Maggette hit a pair of free throws to clinch the victory.

Bogut scored the first six points of overtime before Johnson hit a 20-foot jumper. DeRozan brought the Raptors to within two with 1:35 to play in overtime on a floating jumper in the lane.

The Raptors came back from 10 points down in the fourth and had a chance to win in regulation when they took possession with 2.8 seconds left after the ball went out of bounds off Delfino. But Bargnani missed a 19-foot jump shot and the game went into overtime.

The Raptors were down by three with 50.6 seconds to play after Ilyasova fouled out to send Johnson to the line.

Johnson hit one of two free throws to make it 104-102. After Delfino missed a layup, the Raptors had the ball with 26.5 second to play. Johnson was fouled by Bogut with 18.3 seconds to play and made both to tie the game.

Milwaukee took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter and increased it to seven before Bargnani hit a 20-footer from the right wing to make it 88-83. But Milwaukee worked the lead to nine when Delfino hit a three.

Bargnani got the Raptors to within four on a 16-foot jumper with 5:21 left but that was answered by Ilyasova. But Calderon’s layup made it a four-point game again.

Milwaukee led by seven with two minutes to play and Bargnani hit two free throws after Ilyasova fouled with 1:44 to play to make the score 104-99. Bargnani came back and hit for two on a 21-foot jumper to bring the Raptors to within three with 1:18 to play.

The Raptors led by two points entering the second half. During the third quarter, the Bucks took a 75-74 on a 20-foot step back jumper from the top of the key by former Raptor Delfino, capitalizing on Keyon Dooling’s steal.

The Bucks pulled ahead by three on Ilyasova’s running layup with 41 seconds left in the third. It was 81-76 after Dooling hit a pair of free throws but Johnson brought the Raptors to within three at the end of the third quarter with a driving layup.

Bogut and Maggette each scored 16 first-half points for Milwaukee.

Toronto shot 54.8 per cent from the floor in the first half and Milwaukee shot 51.3 per cent.
