Through Hype And Buzz, Brooklyn’s Amazing Baby Is Growing Up Fast

It seems only fitting that a band named Amazing Baby would be subject to lofty expectations.
That they’re from Brooklyn, have ties to 2008 breakout act MGMT and bring a refined, spacious and diverse almost David Bowie-esque sound has only opened the door wider for writers and fans to lean heavily on words like “buzz” and “hype.”
But it’s nothing much to the group, which has just released its debut record Rewild on Shangri-La this month as it tours the U.S. and Canada with heavily-touted French outfit Phoenix.
The bottom line though, is that Amazing Baby could quickly outgrow the group it currently spends nights playing ahead of, at least on this side of the pond. In the next to months alone they’ll be mainstays on the summer festival circuit and have a sweet spot on the Lollapalooza bill.
And regardless of where it came from and whether you feel the attention they’ve garnered from the likes of NME is warranted, the sheer amount of ink and exposure Amazing Baby is getting means they’ll probably be one of music’s big kids sooner rather than later.
