Video released of ‘bug bandit’ after string of west-end robberies

Toronto police are trying to track down a man they suspect is behind at least half a dozen bank robberies in the west end.

Investigators have dubbed him the “bug bandit” because he was wearing large-framed glasses or safety goggles during the robberies and attempted robberies, which took place between July and last week Friday.

Five of the robberies took place at branches on Bloor Street West, from Bathurst Street to Kipling Avenue.

The sixth was on St. Clair Avenue West at Runnymede Road.

The man is brown-skinned, 20 to 25 years old, five-foot-10 to six feet tall, with facial hair. During the robberies he wore glasses and his hair was covered with either a baseball hat or a hood.
