Those worries were magnified on Friday, after a man was shot dead in the city’s east end.
The victim, who police say was in his 20s, was standing in the doorway of a Scarborough residence when the shots were fired.
Details are still sparse on exactly what happened on Washburn Way in the Markham and Sheppard Ave. area. When paramedics arrived, they discovered the man with no vital signs. He was rushed to hospital but didn’t survive his wounds.
Cops are said to be seeking two men, who were spotted running away right after the gun was used. Witnesses report seeing at least one of them using a novel way to flee the murder scene. He’s said to have jumped on a bicycle and sped off.
So far, homicide detectives have no clue who they’re looking for or a motive.
It’s the second homicide in less that 24 hours. A man was stabbed to death during a soccer party at Jane and Wilson on Thursday. Three men have been collared in that incident, as authorities look for a fourth suspect.
