Jays Crush Nationals

This time it was Roy Halladay’s turn.

Toronto’s suddenly surging bullpen was on display again on Thursday night as the Jays easily handled the visiting Washington Nationals, 8-4.

Halladay threw six innings and Eric Hinske drove in three runs to lead the Jays to their third straight win and second series sweep of the season.

It was the seventh win in nine games for Toronto, which moves 10 games over .500.

Toronto starters have now won three consecutive games, serving to instill a confidence in the bullpen that hasn’t always existed.

The Nationals, on the other hand, have suffered badly losing eight of nine and failing to put in a competitive performance against the Jays.

Toronto punished Nationals starter John Patterson early.   By the end of three innings the Jays were up 5-1 and Washington didn’t have the firepower to claw their way back into contention.
