Big Music Festival Being Planned For Toronto Islands

But British businessman Richard Branson, who owns Virgin Records and a mobile phone company among other enterprises, may be the only one rich enough to try to extend it for another weekend.

The self-made entrepreneur has confirmed the Toronto Islands will be the site of the first local version of the Virgin Music Festival. The two day rock concert will be held September 9th and 10th and promises to present 40 acts to a sure to be screaming crowd.

The bearded daredevil businessman literally jumped into the announcement on Friday, getting lowered from a helicopter onto the grounds of The Docks nightclub to confirm the event.

“It will be a great success,” he predicts. “And over the years, you know it will build in the same way that it has built in the U.K.” The festival has been regularly held in England for the last few years and often attracts some pretty big names.
