Police Probe Fatal Shooting In The West End

Police are searching for suspects and witnesses after a man was shot to death in the west end early Sunday.

Two men were gunned down around 4:30am in the Weston and Rogers Roads area.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and the other man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

No names have been released.

The incident allegedly began when two men were refused entry into an after hours bar and then got rough with a woman working the door.

“I guess I gave them their money back too slow, and they grabbed my bag with my hand and pulled me outside,” said employee, who asked not to be identified.

“All the money scattered everywhere, and that’s when one of the guys pulled out a gun.”

It’s the fourth murder in three months on Weston Rd. Most recently, a 39-year-old man was stabbed to death inside an area apartment building.

And police were called out to investigate another violent incident hours earlier, when a young man was seriously wounded in a knife attack.

It happened just after 7pm Saturday in the Bloor West and Islington area.

Police say the victim, believed to be in his early 20s, was stabbed in the lower back. He needed several hours of emergency surgery and there’s no word yet on his condition.

If you have any information that could help detectives in either case, call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
