Four Men Face Charges Following Police Raid

Residents in the Coxwell Ave. and Gerrard St. area fear a suspected drug house could already be operating again just hours after it was raided by police.

Officers from 55 Division and the Emergency Task Force entered the home just before 2am Wednesday.

Inside they reportedly found cocaine, crack-cocaine, and ecstasy. Seizing the narcotics, they subsequently charged four men between the ages of 17 and 62 with numerous drug-related offenses.

Detectives said community complaints about drugs in the area prompted them to obtain a search warrant for the home.

The arrests brought relief, followed once again by apprehension.

“There’s a sense of relief but, you know, It’s a revolving door,” said De-anne Lamirande. “The officer I was speaking to said that some of them he’s arrested 20 times.”

Neighbours in the area say they’ve been trying for months to have the suspected drug haven shut down. It looked like their hopes came true, but not long after a sinking reality set in.

On Wednesday, neighbours say numerous people were seen going in and out of the house, and it appears to be business as usual.

Lamirande lives next-door and says all day long she and others are harassed by customers.

“I’m concerned for myself and the neighbours,” she admits.   “There’s people that are high on something. You never know what they might do. They end up in the backyards.”
