Police Probe Hit & Run In The West End

The victim, who requires a walker to get around, was taken to hospital with several fractures after he was run down while making his way across Roncesvalles Avenue using a pedestrian crosswalk north of Queen Street.

Police said the suspect vehicle was travelling north and failed to stop after hitting the man.

“The pedestrian has suffered some substantial injuries, broken bones,” Sgt. Jeff Redden of Toronto Police Traffic Services explained.

“Unfortunately the vehicle did not remain at the scene. It fled the scene shortly after the impact and we’re investigating the collision at this stage.”

Investigators are searching for a light blue or blueish-grey older-model vehicle, compact to mid-size with damage to either the windshield or front end.

Witnesses say the driver has long, dark hair.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released and investigators are hoping to hear from other witnesses. If you saw what happened, call Traffic Services at (416) 808-1900 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.

Police were also called out to the Dundas and Dufferin area after a car slammed into a house Saturday morning.

Authorities say they were pulling the driver over for a traffic violation when he took off, and ended up ramming into a home of Afton Avenue. The motorist was taken into custody and charges are pending.
