A man fortunate enough to have his cell phone on him used it to contact police after he was locked in the trunk of a car.
He called police at about 8:15pm Monday after his apparent attacker or attackers forced him into the vehicle’s rear compartment in an alleged abduction in Mississauga.
The victim, in his twenties, used the phone to call authorities. He listened for their sirens as they tracked him down, eventually finding the car in the Wolfedale Rd. and Burnhamthorpe Rd. West area, just west of Mavis Rd.
The man was fine despite having been trapped in the trunk for an unknown amount of time.
There were no other people in the car, and officers haven’t made any arrests. It’s unclear at this point what may have motivated the bizarre and disturbing incident.
Investigators with Peel Regional Police are treating it as an abduction, and they’re speaking with the victim in order to find who may have been responsible.
They’ll likely also search the car, now in police custody, for clues.
