Dec. 6, 2006 – StreetBeat – Cops Hunt Hit & Run Driver

A woman is in critical condition and could lose both her feet after a devastating hit and run on Tuesday night.

It happened just after 7pm Tuesday near McNicoll and Victoria Park. Cops still aren’t sure about the sequence of events, but say it appears a vehicle – possibly a dar coloured van like an Astro or Safari – was heading through the busy intersection when it clipped two pedestrians, a 59-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man.

Both were rushed to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Cops are incensed that the driver of the wanted car didn’t stop, but instead sped away from the scene.  A second vehicle was actually involved, but remained at the scene.

Police are searching for the vehicle that sped away and are urging the driver to surrender.
