Parents Celebrate Arrival Of New Year’s Babies

While many people across the GTA noisily welcomed 2007 at parties with friends, a few couples spent some quiet time after the clock struck midnight getting acquainted with their new bundles of joy.

Two babies came into the world just moments after midnight Monday, including a little boy born at Scarborough Grace (pictured) and another born at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga.

The proud father of the boy born at Scarborough Grace, Patrick Thanaratnam, said he and his wife haven’t picked out a name for their son yet. The little guy entered the world at 7lbs. 13 oz.

“So baby is born exactly at 12 o’clock,” he said. “Very happy. First baby I have.”

“Mom is very good. She’s okay. Very happy, too.”

Just moments later little “Krish” Puri arrived at Credit Valley weighing 8lbs. 8oz.

“I was watching the clock. I was watching the countdown, and as soon as they started celebrating and the baby was out,” proud papa Surinder Puri explained.

The little guy is the third child in the Puri family. He has a big brother and big sister.

And shortly after those important arrivals, two more baby boys were born – one at Scarborough Centenary at 12:51am and the other at Etobicoke General.
