History will be made at the Rogers Centre on Saturday when the International Bowl kicks off at noon, marking the first U.S. College bowl game to be played outside of the States since 1937.
The game features the Western Michigan Broncos taking on the Cincinnati Bearcats in what promises to be a rare treat for Canadian fans.
“In addition to an exciting football game we’ll have two marching bands, each one over 200 members strong performing and the Burlington band here and great energy in the building and a lot of fun,” promised spokesperson Don Loding.
Both sides are geared up for the big game, and the unique surroundings.
“It’s a pleasure for us to come and experience a great city and I think it’s going to be one of the top bowl games in coming years,” said Broncos Head Coach Bill Cubit.
For Brampton’s Fernand Kashama, one of two Canadians on the Broncos, it’s even more special.
“I haven’t had a chance to play at home for like three years and it’s a chance of a lifetime,” he said. “When I heard we were in the game, I mean words can’t explain how I felt.”
