Cops Make Arrest In “As-It -Happens” Carjacking

It was a video that angered an entire city.

And it was good enough quality to lead to a quick arrest.

On Wednesday, we showed you some exclusive police video of a carjacking in progress outside St. Michael’s Hospital.

It showed a man who claimed to be a security guard telling a 79-year-old woman she had to move her Silver Honda away from the entrance and then offering to do it for her.

But when she let him into her vehicle and they switched places, he roughly pushed her out, slammed the door closed and sped off with her car, causing her to fall to the ground.

The cowardly crime outraged cops, who hoped someone would recognize the man behind the wheel.

And apparently someone did.

Police received enough tips to lead them to a suspect. Thirty-nine year-old George Apostolou is facing a slew of charges, including robbery, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and perhaps the most ironic of all – driving while under suspension.

He made an appearance at Old City Hall Court on Friday.

The victim wasn’t seriously hurt.
