Chris Bosh Catches Fire For Raptors

The Toronto Raptors aren’t the first team that have been guilty of riding the coattails of their star player.   But when Chris Bosh hurt his knee and was relegated to the sidelines, the rest of the team had to pull up their socks and pick up the slack.

And now that Bosh is back, they haven’t reverted to their old, self-destructive patterns.   As strange and contrary to common sense as it sounds, the Raptors actually credit the absence of their best player with helping them improve as a team.

“When Chris went out, it did give a lot of guys a lot of opportunities to showcase some of the good things that we can do, and it just showed how deep this team is,” said forward Joey Graham.

Bosh doesn’t disagree.

“In the end, it made guys step up,” he admits.   “Guys had to improve their game. You know, now that I’m back, everybody has a lot of confidence and we just picked up where we left off.”

The Raptors have since sailed to the top of the league-worst Atlantic Division.

“It feels good to play for something every day,” Bosh adds.   “You know, last year at this point in time, we were just playing for some pride as a team. You know, we were just trying to feel good after the game. But like now we’re trying to do those things and we’re trying to win the Atlantic Division.”
