Indiana Outpaces The Raptors

It was lovely while it lasted.

The Raptors only managed to stay at the .500 mark for exactly one game after they suffered a 102-84 loss to the Pacers in Indianapolis Saturday night.

Chris Bosh, recently named as a starter for the Eastern Conference All-Star team, finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds and Jose Calderon had 14 points for Toronto.

But their efforts couldn’t stop the Pacers from breaking out late in the third frame, taking a 69-61 lead and substantially increasing that advantage in the final quarter thanks to consecutive three-pointers by Darrell Armstrong and Mike Dunleavy with eight minutes left to give Indiana an 81-66 lead.

Anthony Parker had a monster dunk in the first quarter but Bosh answered back in the second with a rim rocker of his own with 3:30 left in the frame. The Pacers scored the next seven points after that but Toronto managed to take a one-point lead at half time.

“I think we ran out of gas a little bit,” Raptors Coach Sam Mitchell said, referring to his team’s back-to-back. “Those aren’t excuses, but that’s just the NBA.”

The Raptors finally hit the .500 mark on Friday night with a 96-90 win over the Celtics, with Bosh scoring 26.
