Leafs Give St. Louis The Blues

A breathtaking save by Toronto goalie Andrew Raycroft highlighted yet another win for the streaking Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.

Down 2-1 in the third and fighting to rally on home ice, the St. Louis Blues threw everything they could at Raycroft.   It looked like they finally had him beat when Bill Guerin picked up a rebound and found himself staring at an open net.

But just as Guerin unleashed a powerful wrist shot, Raycroft dramatically dove across the ice, stopping the puck, and the rally attempt.

Not long after he robbed Barret Jackman from the slot after a Toronto turnover.

The Leafs held on to beat the Blues 2-1 before a sparse crowd.

Alex Steen snapped a tie late in the second period for the game winner.

Alexei Ponikarovsky scored the other goal on a power-play for the surging Buds, who have won the first four games of a five-game trip.

The Leafs have also won eight of nine on the road.

Ryan Johnson scored for the Blues, who have lost four of five and continue to suffer from poor attendance.
