Rockets Crush The Raptors

They say all good things must come to an end and Houston put an end to the Raptors’ four-game winning streak Friday night with a 114-100 victory in front of a sell-out crowd at the Air Canada Centre.

Toronto put in a brutal performance in the first quarter, slipping behind by as many as 18 points, and never seemed to recover.

The Raptors, who went into Friday’s game with a six-and-a-half game Atlantic Division lead over New York and New Jersey, never managed to get within seven points of the Rockets.

T.J. Ford led Toronto with 18 points, followed by Juan Dixon with 17 and Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani with 16 a-piece. Bosh snatched a game-high 19 rebounds.

But Bosh’s efforts on the boards weren’t enough to beat the Rockets who outrebounded the Raps 47-33.

Morris Peterson stepped in for an injured Anthony Parker, but quickly returned to the bench after committing two turnovers. He scored just two points in 17 minutes.

Both Parker and Jose Calderon suffered sprained ankles in Wednesday’s win over the Knicks.

The Raptors made quick work of the Rockets when they met in Houston last month, but star Yao Ming wasn’t on the court due to a broken leg. He was in fine form Friday and received some hardy cheers from some Chinese fans in the stands.
