Raptors Tie Series With Huge Home Win

Sam Mitchell was presented with his award for NBA coach of the year during a pre-game ceremony on Tuesday, and his team went on to put another feather in his increasingly adorned cap by winning Game 2 against the New Jersey Nets, 89-83.

Anthony Parker led Toronto with 26 points and eight rebounds as the Raptors evened the Eastern Conference quarter-final series at 1-1.

Chris Bosh added 25 points and 13 rebounds, while T.J. Ford finished with 13 points and six assists.

“It feels good, it’s been a long time, but this part of the season is about fun,” Bosh said. “You play 82 games and you work hard for this moment, and I’m just trying to enjoy it.

The home crowd was pretty rowdy tonight, they had our back, and we made big plays down the stretch of the game.”

Former Raptor Vince Carter was somewhat neutralized, but still managed to lead the Nets with 19 points while Bostjan Nachbar added 17, and Jason Kidd finished with 14 points.

The Nets were up 63-58 with a quarter left to go, but the Raptors put on the heat in the fourth and final frame, kicking things off with an impressive 10-0 run that changed the pace of the game.

The series now heads to New Jersey for Games 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday with Game 5 heading back to Toronto next Tuesday.
