Red Bulls Edge Toronto FC

The New York Red Bulls defeated Toronto FC, 2-1, Wednesday night after Colombian star Juan Pablo Angel scored in the 69th and 71st minutes before a sellout crowd at BMO Field.

It was two minutes of play by Angel that left an indelible impression on all who witnessed it.

“Outstanding,” was how Torotno coach Mo Johnston’s described Angel’s play. “You see the movement, you see the class on the first goal and then obviously ghosting in on the back post on the second goal. You can’t teach that. He’s a world-class player.”

Angel now has six goals in five games this season.

“He had a rough first half, as did our team,” said New York coach Bruce Arena. “Obviously we turned things around in the second half.”

Jeff Cunningham scored for Toronto.
