Raptors Announce New Season Schedule

Everyone’s favorite purple dinosaur is back – Not Barney, but the Toronto Raptors.

The underdog basketball team put out their new season schedule on Thursday, announcing they will be tipping off their 13 th season in the NBA as defending Atlantic Division Champs on Wednesday, Oct. 31 against the Philidelphia 76ers.

Toronto will play its fourth season in the Atlantic Division, joining Boston , New Jersey , New York and Philadelphia . The team was a member of the Central Division from 1995 until 2004.

The schedule features four games against divisional foes with two home and two away. The remaining 10 conference teams will be played twice at home and on the road with the exception of four teams – two will be played once at home and twice on the road (Atlanta and Chicago) and two will be faced twice at home and once on the road (Milwaukee and Orlando). Each Western Conference team will be played once at home and on the road.

Most of the team’s home games will be on the weekend with 12 games on a Friday and 11 on a Sunday, accounting for more than half of the 41 home dates.

The Raptors are training in Europe and will be one of four teams to take part in NBA Europe Live, which goes live from Italy and Spain from September 29 – October 12.
