Marilyn Denis Nabs Award At Geminis

Not one, but two Geminis were awarded to Citytv’s CityLine Tuesday night.
The hit talk show walked away with best lifestyle/practical information series, with an award also going to host Marilyn Denis at the Gemini Lifestyle, Children’s and Youth Gala held in Toronto.
Meanwhile, CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos was named best host or interviewer for his work on “The Hour,” which also won best talk series.
Other winners included: the first season of “Canada’s Next Top Model”, crowned best reality program; “Bathroom Divas: So You Want to Be an Opera Star” was named best general/human interest series; “Skyland” picked up the prize for best animated program or series, while “Wapos Bay” nabbed the trophy for best children’s or youth fiction program. The Gemini for best preschool program or series went to “Backyardigans.”
Tuesday night’s awards marked the second of three nights of industry Gemini presentations. On Monday, the awards for documentaries, news and sports were handed out. While the Geminis for for drama, variety and comedy will be presented Wednesday.
The main Gemini Awards Gala will be held in Regina on October 28th.
