A scary situation stopped traffic and kept crews at bay near Eglinton and Old Forest Road, not far from Bathurst after 4pm Friday afternoon. A TTC bus driver fainted behind the wheel, sending his eastbound vehicle careening out of control and straight into a hydro pole. The impact sent live wires crashing down on top of a tractor trailer that was heading westbound at the scene.
That created a dilemma for those trying to fix the problem and police were forced to close off an always busy Eglinton Ave. from Bathurst at the height of rush hour, while they tried to figure out what to do next. The area remained sealed to traffic and the truck was forced to stay right where it was, while they dealt with the emergency.
The good news in all this is that there were just two people on the bus at the time, and neither was seriously hurt. There’s no word on what caused the driver to lose consciousness.
