Raptors Close Out Pre-Season With Impressive Win

The Toronto Raptors closed out their exhibition season with another impressive victory, 98-64 over the Washington Wizards on Friday night.

The Raptors have earned one-sided victories in their last three pre-season games and now hope to carry their winning ways into the regular season, which begins next week.

Andrea Bargnani led the purple dinos with 17 points and eight rebounds while Jason Kapono had 12 points and Juan Dixon and Carlos Delfino finished with 10 apiece.

DeShawn Stevenson has 12 points to top the Wizards.

“I think right now we’re pretty good, I think we can be satisfied with where we are, it’s not like we’re winning and giving up a bunch of layups, and letting teams score 100-plus points,” said Raptors forward Chris Bosh. “We’re holding teams under 40 per cent and we’re just rolling right now and we have to let that carry on into the regular-season.”

The Raptors took command of the game early and had a huge 29-point lead going into the fourth quarter at the Air Canada Centre.

“I never use the word `happy’ or `pleased’ but we feel we are going in the right direction and trying to make our guys believe that we are a good basketball team, and I tell them all the time,” said Raptors coach Sam Mitchell. “It’s for you guys (the media) to talk about who is the best basketball team and it’s for the teams to go out and earn it, and at the end of the day you just have to go out and earn it.”
