Priest Arrested For Harassing Talk Show Host Conan O’Brien

The late night talk shows may be off the air because of a writers’ strike in Hollywood, but that doesn’t mean there’s still not a lot to talk about. Take midnight yakker Conan O’Brien. You can only wonder what he’d have to say about a bizarre case that’s swirling around him if his show was still on TV.

A priest from Boston’s Archdiocese has been placed on leave after he was arrested for allegedly stalking the host. Cops contend Rev. David Ajemian has apparently been trying to get the host’s attention for the past 14 months. They say he not only sent the star a large number of threatening letters – on his parish letterhead – but even went so far as to locate and contact his parents.

Investigators allege Ajemian would repeatedly show up at the New York studio where the show was being taped and demand to not only be let in, but appear on the program. And when show officials naturally refused his requests, the harassment began.

His bizarre letters are signed “your priest stalker” and ask disturbing questions. “Is this the way you treat your most dangerous fans?” one line asks. “I want a public confession before I ever consider giving you absolution — or a spot on your couch,” another reads.

When Ajemian allegedly tried to force his way into a taping last week, cops were waiting. He was taken into custody and charged. If convicted, he could be ministering to prisoners for quite some time. The charge of aggravated harassment and stalking carries a penalty of a year in prison.

There is a connection between the two, however tentative. O’Brien has been involved in fundraising for the Archdiocese in the past. But he’s so far refused to comment on the case.
