Raptors Rout Bobcats

The Raptors came up short Saturday against the Washington Wizards, but it’s possible they were just saving it for the Bobcats.

Even without three of their top players, the injury-riddled Raptors had no problem handling the Charlotte Monday night, getting out to a big first-quarter lead and riding it all the way to a 98-79 win.

It was a parade of contributions from bench players, as Kris Humphries and Carlos Delfino scored 17 points apiece and the team hardly seemed to miss starters Chris Bosh, T.J. Ford and Andrea Bargnani at all.

Six players scored in double figures for the Dinos, including the rarely used Joey Graham, who made his first start of the season and came through with 13 points.

Jose Calderon had 12 points, Anthony Parker 11 points and Jason Kapono finished with 10 while rookie Jamario Moon continued a stretch of impressive play and added 12 rebounds.

Sam Mitchell’s club never trailed against the struggling Bobcats and at one point led by 21 points. The Raptors shot 51 per cent on the night and held the Bobcats to 33 per cent shooting. They also enjoyed a rare occasion of outrebounding their competition, doing so on this night 46-35.

Bosh, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, missed his third consecutive game with a strained right groin.

The win was a big one for Toronto, who have a tough schedule coming up including meetings with Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns and the high profile Boston Celtics, who escaped with a three-point win over Toronto in the third game of the season.
