A Mississauga police officer’s admission he used steroids on the job and claim that he’s not the only one has prompted a probe by Peel Regional Police.
The police service announced the investigation this week after it heard from Const. Roger Yeo. Yeo apparently admitted to using steroids on the job and contends other members of the force have used them as well.
Yeo made the claim during a hearing into a discreditable conduct charge against him. The charge stems from allegations the officer stalked teenage girls in the summer and fall of 2006. He’s currently suspended from duty.
Peel police Chief Mike Metcalf said the matter would be looked into and added that any claims made against members of the force were taken seriously.
“It is paramount that we maintain the confidence of the community that we serve,” he said in a statement. “Allegations made against members of this service are taken seriously, and will be investigated thoroughly.”
The police Professional Standards bureau will apparently be looking into the matter.
