Attention Shoplifters: Don’t Forget To Remove The Hanger

Here’s a new rule of thumb all shoplifters should study: if you’re going to steal a suit from a store, be sure to remove the hanger. A German man in the western city of Aachen was detained trying to leave a local clothing store, when security personnel accused him of stealing a suit.
What tipped them off? The man headed for the exit, telling clerks he’d decided not to buy anything. But when they saw a hanger sticking out from under his clothes, they decided to search him. That’s when they discovered this idiot had put on the suit but forgotten to remove the wire device that had been used to display it.
His collar helped them make their collar and he was trotted off to jail.
Even police were amused by the oversight as they took the man into custody. “Only a sign saying ‘stop me, I’m a thief!’ would have made the thief look more unprofessional,” an official statement reads.
The man will now head for court and the justice that may await him. He’s just hoping he doesn’t face a ‘hanging’ judge.
