Motorists Warned About Icy Road Conditions

Roads in and around the GTA were a slick, slippery mess Wednesday morning.

One driver rolled his vehicle on Highway 401 near Kennedy Rd. He was driving in the westbound lanes just before 5am when he lost control. The car swerved and soared over the guide rail into the collector lanes, rolling before coming to a stop.

It took emergency crews half an hour to get the motorist out of the vehicle. Fortunately his injuries weren’t considered serious. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The temperature dipped down below the freezing mark again overnight, leading to the treacherous conditions.

Things improved later in the day and a warm-up is on the way for the next three days, with temperatures expected to hover around 5 or 6 degrees. That should help to melt the ice and dry out the major thoroughfares.
