As a member of Team Racer Sportif, McKenzie Parsons has logged thousands of miles on his bike. All that road work came in handy when he took part in Race Across America. The grueling event began in California and ended in Maryland . When all was said and done, McKenzie, at just 17, became the youngest rider to ever complete the course, and in the process his team raised $100,000 for Sick Kids Hospital .
After riding 5,000 miles in six days, he was a little bit tired, but even more inspired.
“My dad did the race with me as well and my mom is the crew chief, too, and I ride with all the guys at Racer Sportif…I had the heart to do it and I really just wanted to accomplish the stat to be the youngest rider ever to do it. And we’re all a little crazy to do it.”
Congratulations McKenzie, you’re the Athlete of the Week.
