California Man Sits Down For Guinness World Record

His clothes are covered in soot and his tush is a little sore – but then, no one said setting Guinness World Records was easy.
California man Jim Purol has sat in 39,250 seats at the Rose Bowl, one after another, to claim the title of “Most Seats Sat in 48 Hours.”
Though he’s already won, there are more chairs to conquer: The stadium has 92,542 berths in total.
Purol began his task Monday, and he hopes to complete his tour of the Bowl before Friday.
The 56-year-old says he has dreamed of ‘tackling’ the Rose Bowl after climbing a smaller mountain 20 years ago, when he sat in all the seats at University of Michigan’s football stadium.
Though he’s proud of his accomplishment, the feat has taken a toll on his body and his cleanliness.
He says he loves the bleachers but calls the place “filthy” – not quite the bed of roses he imagined.
